Representações sociais acerca de pessoas com deficiência intelectual: comparação entre estudantes de ciências exatas e de ciências sociais e humanas

Abstract

O principal objetivo da presente dissertação baseou-se em enriquecer o conhecimento acerca das representações sociais da pessoa com deficiência intelectual. Os resultados obtidos foram examinados relativamente às suas implicações na integração socioprofissional deste grupo específico. Assim, pediu-se a 324 estudantes universitários – 162 de ciências exatas e 162 de ciências sociais e humanas – para analisarem até que ponto uma série de traços de personalidade se aplica ou não em duas condições: pessoa com deficiência intelectual e pessoa com sucesso pessoal e profissional. Devido à escassez de estudos sobre esta temática, utilizou-se de um design exploratório para o estudo. Todos os resultados aqui obtidos foram comparados entre estudantes de ciências exatas e estudantes de ciências sociais e humanas. Na análise de dados, utilizaram-se testes não-paramétricos, estatísticas descritivas, análise fatorial exploratória de componentes principais e testes de hipótese em relação a efeitos de à vontade nas relações com as pessoas com deficiência intelectual. Embora existam diferenças entre estudantes de ciências exatas e ciências sociais e humanas, os resultados revelam uma imagem do deficiente intelectual marcada por grande imaturidade relacional e afectividade e, simultaneamente, diferenças consideráveis no que respeita às características necessárias ao sucesso profissional e pessoal. No final deste estudo, verificou-se que ainda existem sérias barreiras psicossociais no processo de integração socioprofissional.

The main objective of this thesis was based on enriching the knowledge of the social representations of people with intellectual disabilities. The obtained results were examined in relation of its implications on socioprofessional integration of this specific group. So was asked 324 university students – 162 of exact sciences and 162 of social and human sciences – to analyze until which point a number of personality traits or not in two conditions: people with intellectual disabilities and people with personal and professional success. The lack of studies on this subject requires the use of an exploratory design for the study. All the results obtained were compared between students of exact sciences and students of social and human sciences. In the data analysis, we used nonparametric tests, descriptive statistics, exploratory factorial analysis of the main components and hypothesis tests regarding the effects of being at ease in the representations of people with intellectual disabilities. Although there are differences between students of exact sciences and social and human sciences, the results show an image of the intellectual disabled marked by a large relational and affective immaturity and simultaneously considerable differences regarding the characteristics necessary for the professional and personal success. At the end of this study, it was found that there are still serious psychosocial barriers in the process of integration socio-professional.
